With high temperatures well over 100 degrees continuing through much of the week, the National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued an excessive heat warning that will remain in effect through Sunday.
Hermiston’s high temperature on Monday was 114 and is forecast to reach 117-118 today.
The warning is for the Lower Columbia Basin in both Oregon and Washington. Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
