Fourth grader Emily Smith of Rocky Heights Elementary School in Hermiston has won Umatilla County’s Fun at the Fair Day Camp logo contest.
Fair officials said out of approximately 90 entries, Emily’s rendering best exemplified the 2015 Umatilla County Fair theme “100 Years, What a Ride.”
In addition to countywide recognition, the fourth grader will receive two adult day passes, four children day passes, one Fun at the Fair Day Camp T-shirt and a carnival wristband (good for one day of rides) for the 2015 Umatilla County Fair.
Emily’s logo will be displayed on the Fun at the Fair Day Camp shirts that are worn by each child enrolled. In its fourth year, the Day Camp will claim Emily’s logo as only the second theme logo created for the camp since the decision was made to hold a county wide contest last year. Fair Manager Peggy Anderson hopes to rally participation for this contest next year as it is offered to grades K-5 in Umatilla County. Prizes will also be awarded to the second-place winner Caitlin Anderholm, a fifth grader at West Park Elementary School in Hermiston; and to the third-place winner, also a fifth grader Jaydon Sanchez of West Park Elementary School.
The winning logos can be viewed on the fair’s Facebook page. Fun at the Fair Day Camp is offered to students of Umatilla County who will be entering first through fifth grade in the fall of this year. Download registration forms at the fair’s website.
