The 2014 Umatilla County Fair will feature contests for babies, bakers and everyone in between.
A pair of baking contests gets under way on Wednesday, Aug. 6 with the Backyard Barbecue Contest and the Home-Baked Bread Contest. Information for both contests can be found on the fair’s contest webpage.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, the fair will hold its annual RDO Kids’ Tractor Pull for children ages 4-10. The contest will take place at the Les Schwab Stage near Thompson Hall. Entry forms are available at the fair office or in this year’s Exhibitor Guide. No pre-registration is required.
On Saturday, Aug. 9, the KOHU Cutest Baby Contest will get under way at 10 a.m. on the Coke Stage. The contest is for newborns through 18 months. For details, visit the KOHU website. Gohermiston.com
Also on Saturday, the watermelon seed spitting contest takes place at 2 p.m. on the Coke Stage. Divisions include men, women, youth ages 8-15 and children ages 7 and under. No registration fee is required.
