Bulldogs Sendoff 2
Hermiston fans will be lining up Friday afternoon to cheer on the Bulldogs as they head to Hillsboro for Saturday's 5A state championship game.

Plans are under way to give the Hermiston High School football team an even bigger sendoff as they travel on Friday to Hillsboro for the 5A championship game.

Last week, fans lined up along Highland Avenue to cheer the team as its buses pulled out of the high school parking lot for the semi-final game against Marist. Tracy Gammell said she wants to see an even bigger turnout on Friday.

“Last week was great, but let’s get more people and do it bigger and better this time,” she said. The team will be leaving for Hillsboro at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Gammell is asking supporters to meet at the school at 2:15 p.m.

Gammel said the plan for Friday is for the bus to pull forward to the end of the parking lot by the front of the stadium entrance. The team members will then exit the high school as they do for home football games. Parents and fans will line up around the track as the team circles around to greet them, hug them and give them high fives.

The players will then board the bus for the drive to Hillsboro. The championship game against Silverton is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. Northeast Oregon Now will have live updates throughout the game.
