Hermiston may be small in terms of its population, but there is nothing small-time about the Farm-City Pro Rodeo.

For the 26th straight year, the Farm-City Pro Rodeo will be bringing the sport’s top contestants and entertainment to rodeo grounds Aug. 7-10. Board member Jon Gill gave a sneak preview of the rodeo Tuesday during the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce’s Business To Business Luncheon at McKenzie Park.

“We’ve got one of the top-notch events in the country here in Hermiston,” Gill said. This is the 10th year the event has been part of the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association, helping it to attract the top cowboys in the country.

Entertainment this year will include Keith Isley, the winner of the 2012 Coors Man in the Can Award.

“If you want to get the best funnyman in the business, it’s Keith,” Gill said. This year’s Farm-City Pro Rodeo will also feature rope trick artist Tomas Garcilazo, a traditional Mexican charro. Garcilazo will perform nightly, entertaining the crowds with his horsemanship and rope artistry.

“This guy is one of the neatest charros in the world,” Gill said.

The rodeo gets under way on Wednesday, Aug. 7 and wraps up Saturday, Aug. 10 with the championship performance. Slack is scheduled for 2 p.m. each day. Visit the Farm-City Pro Rodeo website for the complete schedule. Ticket information is also available on the website.
