The Oregon Department of Transportation is reporting that Interstate 84 is closed westbound at Ontario and eastbound at Baker City due to wild fires near MP 317.
Due to hot, windy weather conditions this is expected to be an extended closure that will last for several hours and could extend into the evening. The eastbound closure will likely be pushed back to Pendleton within a few hours due to limited space and services to accommodate stranded trucks and other motorists in Baker City and La Grande.
Travelers are advised to use alternate routes and are cautioned to stay on main highways. Avoid following GPS directions onto forest, BLM or other remote roadways. Other roadways may be closed or impacted by wildfires. Check TripCheck.com or call 511 / 800-977-6368 for updated Oregon state highway conditions. Also check neighboring state’s road conditions sites before travel.
