The Oregon Department of Transportation has closed both directions of Interstate 84 between La Grande (Exit 265) and Pendleton (Exit 216) due to extreme fog near Meacham.
The westbound freeway is also closed in Baker City at Exit 302. There is no estimated time for opening the highway.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Lower Columbia Basin beginning at 1 a.m. Thursday and continuing through 4 a.m. Friday.
Snow is forecast to fall early Thursday through early afternoon and then will mix with freezing rain Thursday afternoon and night. As much as five inches of snow could fall during that time.
