Will Studer and Chris (CJ) Nycz like to say that a computer is like a car. It needs a little TLC from time to time to keep it running smoothly.

Together, they offer tune-ups and much more at their new Hermiston business, Eastern Oregon Computers, located at 1055 S. Highway 395 Suite 111 at the Cornerstone Court. They were joined on Thursday by representatives from the city, the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce and friends during a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the chamber.

Prior to opening the business in January, Studer and Nycz both operated their own computer businesses out of their homes.

“We were kind of competitors before we got together,” said Studer. “We just kind of thought, ‘Why don’t we join forces,’ and it’s just happened to work out.”

Nycz said the number one issue facing computer users is slowness – no surprise, right?

“Just like a car needs serviced every so often, you should really bring your computer in once a year to get rid of spyware and whatever else is bogging it down,” he said. Eastern Oregon Computers, which employs 10 people, offer basic tune-ups for $100 and advanced tune-ups for $180.

The business not only tunes up and repairs computers, TVs, and printers, it also sells certified pre-owned computers. Other services it offers include communications systems, network management and design, web design and hosting and more.

Nycz grew up in Hermiston and has worked at several companies on the tech side. Studer is from the Midwest and has experience in law enforcement and photography.
