JoAnn Aleda Seifer died on March 22, 2015 in Yakima, Wash., at the age of 77.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1937 in Long Beach, Calif., to Emmett and Blanche Haines Williams. JoAnn lived in Echo from 1972 until moving to Yakima in 2006 where she has lived since. She retired from the Umatilla Army Depot after proudly serving 32 years in various civilian positions. JoAnn had a passion for patriotism. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 922, and had served as Department President of the Oregon State VFW Auxiliary in 2004. JoAnn is remembered for her strong will and stronger opinions. She was obstinate and ornery, the qualities that endeared her to those who loved her most.
She is survived by her sons, Ernie Thomas, Echo; Marvin Seifer (Gwen), Medford, and Patrick Seifer (Amy), PRC (China); daughter, Georgia Smedema (Butch), Yakima, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Seifer in 1988; and a daughter, Patsy Mae Seifer in 2002.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Echo Cemetery.
