The Helix School District School Board has hired Brad Bixler as the new superintendent and principal for the district.
Bixler is currently the human resources director and communications specialist for North Bend School District.
Bixler has decades of experience in school districts in Eastern Oregon. He worked in the Pendleton and Hermiston school districts and at Umatilla-Morrow Education Service District from 1991 through 2017 serving as a teacher, technology specialist, assistant principal, principal and human resources director.
Helix School Board Chairman Todd Thorne said after extensive consideration of all the information, interaction and input from staff and community members, the School Board is pleased with the selection.
“We are confident Brad will be a long-term, community-involved, dedicated superintendent/principal,” Thorne said. “His diverse experience in large and small schools and school districts across the country provides unique value. His equity-based thinking, creative forward-thinking approach and ability to listen and collaborate with all stakeholders will serve the district well as we navigate our path forward,” Thorne said.
Bixler said he is excited for the opportunity to be the new Superintendent for Helix School District.
“I am looking forward to serving the students, staff and community for the 2021-22 school year. I hope to begin connecting with staff and the community prior to July 1,” Bixler said.
Bixler will begin his contract on July 1, 2021.
