Four Hermiston High School students – all associated with the school’s football team – have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Hermiston School District.
The district announced today that Umatilla County Health informed district officials on Friday of the four positive cases.
Initial health department interviews have determined the affected youth are associated with the Hermiston High School football team.
The event that caused the exposure has not yet been determined.
To reduce the risk of potential spread to the football athletes, coaches, and families, the health department will contact all football program participants and coaches that are required to quarantine as a result of the four positive cases.
“The health and safety of our students is our number one priority,” said District Athletic Director Larry Usher. “All Hermiston School District athletic and activity programs follow Oregon Health Authority guidelines.”
