Fred E. Haberstich died on Jan. 20, 2023 at his home in Boardman at the age of 88.
He was born on April 22, 1934 in Redmond to Frederick “Fritz” and Fannie Alexander Haberstich.
Fred attended schools in Madras, and on Oct. 31, 1954 he was united in marriage to Theresa Anne Thomsen in Antelope. They moved to Boardman in 1975, where they have lived since. Fred had worked various jobs, including for Russell Oil and as a school bus driver. He had been an OSAA official who enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Theresa Anne Haberstich; sons, Martin, Tim (Bobbie) and Chris (Rhonda); seven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie Taylor and Thelma Krueger; and a brother, Homer Haberstich.
Recitation of the rosary will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 1:30 p.m.
Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
