Gary Irvin White of Irrigon passed away at his home in Irrigon on March 31, 2024 at the age of 82.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1941 in Weiser, Idaho to Oren and Meriel Smith White.
Gary attended schools in California and Emmett, Idaho. After high school, he worked at the Boise Cascade mill in Emmett, Idaho and farmed for Bob Steele, working as a row cropper. In the 1970s he moved to Hines, where he worked for Edward Hines Lumber Mill as a Hyster operator until the late 1980s. In 1990, he moved to Irrigon and began his career with ConAgra Foods in Boardman. He retired from ConAgra Foods in 2006.
Gary was an avid story teller. He loved going sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River and deer hunting.
Gary married Patsy Paxton on March 30, 1961 in Nampa, Idaho.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy; children, Rodney and wife Kim White of Port Orchard, Wash., RaNae and husband Howard Palmer of Burns, Mike White of Elko, Nev., and Carolyn and husband Randy Smith of Elko, Nev.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Warner White.
Per Gary’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
