Oregon is 10th most expensive in the country in terms of gas prices after two weeks at eighth.

Consumers continue to enjoy the lowest gas prices for this time of year in more than a decade.

For the week, the national average for regular unleaded slips two cents to $2.13 a gallon. The Oregon average falls four cents to $2.48, says AAA Oregon/Idaho Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds.

“The national average for regular unleaded is at its lowest price for this date since 2004, while Oregon’s average is at its lowest mark for the date since 2005,” Dodds said. “With gasoline supplies high and oil prices low, AAA expects pump prices to remain relatively cheap through the remainder of the summer and into the fall, unless unexpected events push prices higher.”

Gas prices dropped in 45 states, including Oregon, and Washington, D.C. over the past week, though several states did post increases (Indiana +9 cents, Utah +3 cents, Ohio +3 cents, Missouri +1 cent, and Idaho up fractions of a penny). Despite the recent uptick in several states, prices in every state are lower than both one month ago and one year ago.

Gas prices are dropping on the West Coast, but it remains the most expensive region for gasoline, including the only four states where drivers are paying more than $2.50 on average: Hawaii, California, Alaska and Washington. Oregon is fifth most expensive in the country for the second consecutive week.
