The Greater Eastern Oregon Development Corporation (GEODC) will hold a series of public outreach meetings as it begins its economic development planning process.
Every five years, the GEODC develops an economic analysis of its seven-county region that includes Umatilla, Morrow, Gilliam, Wheeler, Grant, Harney and Malheur counties. The 2014 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is intended to be the grassroots-level planning effort that brings together citizens, businesses, government and community interests to identify the economic development issues of the region and craft strategies to build opportunities or sustainable economic growth.
The plan also identifies local projects important to each community and regional projects needed to address critical economic issues.
The CEDS community outreach meetings one of the preliminary steps in the eight-month planning process. Upcoming meetings include:
• March 18, 10 a.m., Nixyaawii Governance Center, 46411 Timine Way, Pendleton
• March 20, 4 p.m., Pendleton City Hall, 500 SW Dorion Ave.
• March 27, noon, Trinity Lutheran Church, 485 W Locust, Hermiston
• May 21, noon, Riverfront Center, 2 Marine Drive, Boardman
An additional meeting will be scheduled for Umatilla.
