Gerald Clark McCoy died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Ashley Manor Residential Care Facility in Hermiston at the age of 89.

He was born Sept. 10, 1924 in Kansas to William and Ruth McCoy. He was raised in Kansas and moved to Hermiston in the 1950s. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and received the Purple Heart.

Gerald worked in potato processing plants and in farm labor most of his life.

He is survived by son, Jerry McCoy of Hermiston; granddaughter, Patty McCoy; great-grandchildren, Levi and Adeline; sister, Carol Powell of Nampa, Idaho; stepchildren, Jim Craig of Beaverton, and Susan Craig Congor of Hermiston.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Bernice and Donna.

Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
