Gelene “Gigi” Braat Brizendine of Boardman passed away in Pasco, Wash. on Jan. 10, 2024 at the age of 64.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1959 to Arnold and Mary Lou Hawkins Braat.
Gelene lived near Ordnance when she was young and moved to Boardman when she was in the ninth grade. She attended schools in the Irrigon and Boardman school districts, graduating from Riverside High School in Boardman in the class of 1977. While in high school she was the homecoming queen, served on the student council and performed in theater, as well as a magician’s assistant. She lived most of her adult life in the Boardman and Hermiston communities.
She attended New Hope Community Church in Hermiston for many years. Gelene was an avid Tom Selleck fan. She was passionate about song writing and enjoyed an assortment of music. Her nickname “Gigi” reflected that she was all about the glamour.
She is survived by a daughter; three grandchildren; two sisters; and many extended family members.
A service will be announced at a later time.
