Local volunteers of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington are busy planning an evening in Paris for the 12th annual Me and My Prince Ball, which will be held May 21 at the Hermiston Conference Center.

The formal/semi-formal event is a community service GSOSW’s Service Unit 22 provides with the intent of building special memories for fathers and daughters. The price of admission remains at $15 per person, the same as it was the very first year. They are able to keep the cost down due to the generosity of the community.

The Me and My Prince Ball Committee is seeking contributions for this year’s event, which is open to girls of all ages and their fathers/father figures. Monetary donations will be used to cover such expenses as site rental, refreshments, photography and decorations.

Each girl will receive a corsage and professional 5×7 portrait of her with her ‘date,’ and the dads receive boutonnieres. Admission also includes refreshments and the use of a photo booth to create additional photo mementos.

Businesses and individuals who donate $50 or more by March 14 are guaranteed to be mentioned on all promotional materials, including posters, fliers and tickets. Monetary contributions of less than $50 are also welcome, and these donors will be included on the sponsor board at the event. There are four levels of sponsorship available with some that include complementary admission to the dance. As always, donations are tax deductible.

In-kind donations are also welcome. Guests will have the opportunity to win door prizes a few times throughout the evening.

“We plan to continue what we started last year by sending every girl home with a bag of little treats, like tokens for a free dessert at a local restaurant or other small promotional items businesses may like to add, said Michelle Kane, a member of the Me and My Prince Ball Committee. “It’s an excellent opportunity to promote a business. We expect around 300 girls to attend, but businesses can donate less than that amount of items for the treat bags.”

All monetary and in-kind contributors will be posted on a sponsor board at the event.

Checks should be made out “Girl Scouts” and mailed to: Michelle Kane, Attn: Me and My Prince Ball, 520 W. Hemlock Ave., Hermiston OR 97838.
