Peace Pole
Local Girl Scouts will re-dedicate the peace pole on Nov. 11. The pole was damaged by vandals. The ceremony will take place at the Bob Shannon Safety Center.

The event will be hosted by the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington Service Unit 22 on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.

The peace pole was originally erected next to the veterans’ memorial at McKenzie Park in conjunction with Hermiston’s centennial celebration in 2008. It had to be replaced and moved to a safer location due to vandalism. The re-dedication will be in honor of all who have served and are serving our country in the military.

The safety center is located next to McKenzie Park at 330 South First St., in Hermiston. For more information about the ceremony, contact Michelle Kane at (541) 564-5985 and leave a message.
