Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) recently broke ground on the north wing expansion of the Good Shepherd Medical Plaza (GSMP). An integral part of this expansion project is the build out of a brand new state of the art Women’s Center which will be housed on the entire first floor of the new wing.

Timing is everything – so it is no coincidence that on the heels of the groundbreaking GSHCS is excited to introduce the newest member of the Good Shepherd Women’s Center team, Obstetrician and Gynecologist (OB/GYN), Allison Khavkin, M.D.

Khavkin is coming to GSHCS after completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Though Hermiston may seem worlds apart from the frozen tundra of Buffalo, Khavkin is no stranger to the Pacific Northwest and spent her childhood years in a small town outside of Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada.

“After training, I was looking for a place in the PNW to return to,” Khavkin said. “I love the outdoors, fresh food, and beautiful weather – and for me, Hermiston has plenty of everything!”

As for what an OB/GYN does, Khavkin wanted to make sure that women understand the full scope of her service.

“I care for females mostly beginning at eight years of age to over 100,” she said. “I provide preventive health care services and treat both short and long term medical conditions that women in our community may face. I’ll help ensure pregnant mothers are as healthy and safe as possible from beginning to delivery and postpartum care. I support contraceptive decisions and am willing to work with you to find the best options for you.”

When it comes to the approach she takes to patient care Dr. Khavkin said she takes a holistic approach to patient care.

“I want to ensure my patients that I’m here to care for them most importantly, and the condition they may be faced with, and remember that my patients quality of life is most important,” she said.

If you happen to see Khavkin outside of the office it may be a dance competition – specifically for jazz or hip hop. She is also avidly into yoga, snorkeling, free diving, and cycling.

Khavkin is part of the Good Shepherd Women’s Center, located at 620 NW 11th Street, Suite M-103 in Hermiston. Khavkin is welcoming new patients and can be reached at 541-667-3801.
