Hermiston’s Distinguished Service Awards banquet will be held March 20 at the Hermiston Community Center and tickets will go on sale beginning Feb. 1.
This year’s event will be much like the past years’ event with a couple of exceptions. First, the banquet will be put on by the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation for the first time. Until this year, the banquet had been hosted by the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.
“The Chamber is absolutely thrilled that the Good Shepherd Health Foundation has decided to adopt DSA and is confident the Foundation will embrace the DSA and propel it to new heights,” said Chamber Executive Director Val Hoxie.
Foundation Executive Director Liz Marvin said the putting on the event is a logical step for the Foundation.
“It really ties in with the Foundation’s mission of enhancing the health and wellness of our community,” Marvin said.
Marvin said honoring people doing good work helps to strengthen the entire community.
“It motivates and inspires other people and definitely increases the quality of life,” she said. “It inspires to see amazing people doing amazing things for the betterment of the community.”
The other change this year will be the name – Distinguished Service Awards instead of Distinguished Citizens Awards.
“That’s what the Foundation does – we serve,” Marvin said.
Marvin said nomination forms for the awards will soon be on the Foundation website.
