Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) officially opened Good Shepherd Sleep Solutions in Hermiston.

The center, located at 610 NW 11th St., Suite E-19, is under the medical direction of Sleep Medicine physician Jakdej Nikomborirak, known around Good Shepherd as Dr. Jak.

Good Shepherd Sleep Solutions is a comprehensive sleep medicine lab and clinic with consultations, sleep studies, diagnosis and treatment and ongoing care.  Construction was completed on the state-of-the-art space last fall which includes a lab for sleep disorder testing in a home-like atmosphere and a clinic where patients see the providers during the day.

The sleep center is lead by Dr. Jak, a board certified sleep medicine specialist with over 22 years of experience, and Vicki Kent, a board certified advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP), who will see patients the bulk of the time.

Dr. Jak completed his internal medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pennsylvania and his Pulmonary Fellowship at Medical College of Georgia.  Kent has more than 38 years of experience providing acute care, wellness exams and chronic disease management.

Patients can expect to have an initial consultation, an appointment in the clinic to assess and take inventory of symptoms before the sleep study takes place, and a review of the results with follow-up appointments and ongoing care as needed.

“We treat some of the most common sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia, and care for patients age 13 and older,” stated Dr. Jak.  “The benefit of a sleep medicine practice located within a hospital setting is that it’s safer with the Emergency Room close by if needed.”

Good Shepherd Sleep Solutions is open Mondays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with sleep studies occurring Tuesday through Thursday in the evening from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.  To schedule an appointment, call 541-667-3834.  Visit www.gshealth.org/sleep-medicine for more information.
