Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) will host an open house and ribbon cutting for the newly-remodeled Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Lobby and Laboratory (Lab) Draw Stations.
The open house will take place on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m., in the DI waiting area located at 610 N.W. 11th St., in Hermiston.
This major renovation project began on May 23 with careful consideration of staff and patient navigation throughout the construction phases. A combined effort between the DI and Lab Departments to improve patient flow and access was at the heart of the project.
“Changing the patient flow and registration process for these spaces meant combining two waiting areas into one, and expanding the number of draw stations available in the Laboratory,” said Chief Operating Officer Jim Schlenker. “Expanding the lab from two draw stations to four allowed us to adequately accommodate more patients for lab draws.”
An added benefit of this remodel is the reduced wait times.
“We were able to add more registration offices that significantly expedited the patient registration process for both departments,” said Schlenker. “Additionally, the offices are even more private than before, helping us protect patients’ private health information during registration.”
The new renovation boasts a modern, patient-centered design with a color scheme that is warm and welcoming – initiating an overall sense of calmness.
“Patient satisfaction is key in the internal renovation projects we focus on, as we know that patients respond positively to pleasing surroundings and comfort during their care at Good Shepherd,” Schlenker said. “I am confident these updates will help meet the needs and expectations of our growing community for years to come.”
