Being a Leap Year Day baby is something pretty special. Statistically speaking, a baby being born on any given day has a one-in-365 chance, but for a Leap Year Baby it’s a one-in-1,460 chance!

So for the Ramirez-Barreto family when Alexandra went into labor they knew their baby boy was going to be special.

Sergio Barreto, III was born at 11:48 a.m., on Feb. 29, 2016, at 20 inches long and weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces at Good Shepherd Medical Center. Baby Barreto joins around 187,000 other Americans who were born on Leap Year Day.

Unfortunately there are no current statistics available about how many babies in the U.S. are actually born on Leap Year Day.

Though the most immediate decision is what seems to be the biggest point of contention between Leap Year Babies, will the family choose to celebrate Sergio the III, birthday on February 28 or on March 1?

Congratulations to the Ramirez-Barreto Family on their Leap Year Day Baby Boy, Sergio Barreto, III.
