Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) invites patients, staff, and the communities of Eastern Oregon to attend their 7th annual Community Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Eastern Oregon Trade & Event Center.
The event goes from 4 to 7 p.m.
Attendees will learn about new GSHCS services, providers, and accomplishments, while enjoying many opportunities to win prizes. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.
The first 200 attendees will receive a 30-ounce Stanley tumbler, and the next 100 attendees will receive a first aid kit. Those that visit the various health booths at the event will be entered to win prizes including five $500 gift certificates to local businesses and two iPad Pros. Other prizes include a treadmill, household gadgets, electronics and more.
The event kicks off with a Health Booth Fair at 4 p.m. featuring more than 20 booths representing Good Shepherd services including primary care, orthopedics, urology, general durgery, ENT (ear, nose and throat), internal medicine, pediatrics, endocrinology, the Women’s Center, Urgent Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Home Medical Equipment and more. Free flu shots are available to those six months and older with high doses available to those 65 and older. Other free health screenings at the event include blood pressure and BMI checks, as well as A1C and lipid panels.
The Community Meeting begins at 5 p.m. with an introduction from GSHCS Board of Trustees Chair Jon Lorence and a message from Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation Chair Dean Fialka highlighting the foundation’s recent community grants and scholarships.
GSHCS President & CEO Art Mathisen is the final speaker providing a hospital update and presentation of the GSHCS Annual Report for fiscal year 2023-2024, a period marked with exceptional growth for the health care system.
A highlight of the event is the meet-and-greet opportunity with GSHCS’s newest physician team members. Nephrologist Fadi Akoum, MD, Urologist Theresa Koppie, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon Matthew Thompson, MD, Obstetrician/Gynecologist Alexis Tuck, MD, and Orthopedic Surgeon Zhiqing Xing, MD, will all be participating in the meet-and-greet.
Door prizes will be drawn at the closing of the annual Community Meeting around 6:30 p.m. Attendees must be present to win.
