Gordon Merrill Briggs Jr. passed away on Feb. 16, 2022 at the age of 59.
He was born on March 6, 1962 in Pendleton to Gordon and Betty Green Briggs.
Gordon graduated from Pendleton High School and Rogue Community College. In 1997, Gordon moved to Arizona to help his father build a self-sustaining home. After a year, his heart called him back to the trees and mountains and he returned to Pendleton. Gordon worked as a maintenance worker for many years until 2016, when he retired due to a disability. In 2017, he moved to Hermiston and made his home at Guardian Angel Homes until his death.
Gordon was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person who lived each day with love in his heart and a love for Jesus. He was a 49er fan and loved mochas, apple pie and pizza. He loved to ride motorcycles and enjoyed fishing very much. He did a lot of hunting in earlier years.
Gordon was a brother and uncle. He loved his nieces and nephews and cherished photos of them from their travels and everyday life.
Gordon is survived by his siblings, Denise Harman, Kimberly Ables and Gary Briggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary in Hermiston, followed by graveside services at 1 p.m. at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton.
