Henry “HC” Humphrey of West Richland, Wash., passed away in Richland on July 15, 2023 at the age of 83.
He was born on May 31, 1940 in Cestos, Okla. to Henry and Violet Humphrey.
HC moved with his family to Kansas, where he grew up and received his education. He then served in the U.S. Navy for two years before moving to Hermiston in the late 1950s.
HC married Charlanne Lilly on June 30, 1961 in Hermiston. The couple moved to Richland, Wash. in the early 1960s, where he had resided since. Charlanne preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 2000.
HC worked throughout his career at the Hanford Project in Richland, Wash., until retiring in 1996.
HC enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, going to Arizona for the winters and spending time at his cabin in Dayton, Wash. He had been affiliated with the Assembly of God Church for many years.
HC married Eva Stauffacher in Yuma, Ariz. on June 8, 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Eva; son, Howie (Kris) Humphrey; grandson, Brandon (Daicee) Humphrey; sisters, Charlene Barrager and Phyllis Picker; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlanne; his parents; and a sister, Delores.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, 685 W. Hermiston Ave.
Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
