The Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation is giving the public a chance to have a day in the sun while supporting students pursuing a career in the medical field during the annual Scramble for Scholarships golf tournament.
The tournament is set for June 12 at Big River Golf Course in Umatilla and the deadline to register is June 10. The $70 entry fee per person includes a box lunch, barbecue dinner and prizes. The shotgun start begins at 1 p.m. The four-person scramble is limited to the first 120 participants and is open to men and women of all skill levels.
A barbecue, awards ceremony and prize raffles will take place after the tournament at approximately 5 p.m.
As an added bonus, some lucky golfer could drive home in a new Ford Fusion from Tom Denchel Ford Country by hitting a hole-in-one on the first par 3 hole.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Sponsorship dollars go directly into a scholarship fund for area residents seeking an education in a health care profession. A total of $121,000 has been awarded in the past six years.
