The Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation got a big-time Valentine’s Day gift Tuesday in the form of a check for $500,000.
The gift – which came directly from Good Shepherd Health Care System – is the second-largest gift ever given to the foundation.
“This is a marvelous gift,” said Foundation Executive Director Bob Green. “The hospital has supported the foundation for a number of years, but this is an exceptional gift.”
The hospital typically gives financial gifts to the foundation, but Tuesday’s donation was exceptional.
Green said the foundation will use the money to provide grants given out each spring and fall. Grants are awarded to organizations and causes that promote the health and well being of the community.
Since its inception in 1995, the foundation has given more than $2.5 million in grants and medical scholarships.
