Heat Wave Could Bring Record Temperatures for Month of June

It’s getting hot there and will only get hotter, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures in the coming days will threaten June records with highs forecast to reach 111-114 degrees.

The weather service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch beginning Friday and continuing through Wednesday evening. The high Friday is forecast to reach 100, the first of nine straight days of triple-digit temperatures. The record high for Hermiston in the month of June is 107 set in 2015. The all-time record high for Hermiston is 113 degrees set on Aug. 5, 1965, with July 27, 1939 having the second-highest recorded temperature at 112 degrees.

Health experts caution people to stay indoors whenever possible, drink plenty of fluids and check on relatives and neighbors.
