Heidi Van Kirk was appointed the newest member of the Blue Mountain Community College Board of Education.
Van Kirk will take over the Zone 3 position left vacant when Ed Taber resigned in December. She will serve in the position through June 30, 2017, when she would need to file for regular/permanent term in the May 2017 election.
Van Kirk is an attorney practicing in Umatilla and Morrow counties and has been a small business owner for the past 15 years. Additionally she served as the director of the Guardian Care Center in Pendleton which serves to assist the community and surrounding areas in responding to child abuse.
“The BMCC Board looks forward to working with Ms. Van Kirk and we appreciate her interest in serving,” said BMCC Board Chairman Chris Brown.
Zone 3 covers precincts South/East Pendleton, Pilot Rock, Ukiah and Echo in Umatilla County.
