Helen Princess McCoard passed away on July 9, 2018 in Hermiston at the age of 91.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1927 in Echo to John and Leona Fish Young.
Helen grew up and attended school in Echo, graduating from Echo High School in the class of 1945. After high school, she moved to Portland where she met Miller McCoard. The couple were united in marriage in Portland on Dec. 20, 1946. They later lived in Union for several years before moving back to Echo in the 1960s. After they retired, the couple traveled extensively as part of the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program.
Helen and her husband Miller were founding members of the Stanfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, doing bead work and baking.
She is survived by sons, Lowell McCoard and Dale McCoard; daughters, Mary Frey and Gloria Renfro; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Bessie Barnett; and brothers, John Young and Lisle Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Miller in 2015; sons, Jerald and Norman McCoard; and a brother, Frank Young.
A private family graveside service will be held with burial in Echo Cemetery.
