Heppner’s backup quarterback Kevin Smith made the most of his opportunity Friday night, passing for four touchdowns to lead the Mustangs past Tri-Cities Prep, 59-13.
Smith played in place of injured starter Kaden Clark and passed for 227 yards.
Smith connected twice with C.J. Kindle for touchdowns. Kindle had 157 receiving yards. Weston Putman had two interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown.
Heppner (4-0) plays its first conference game of the year on Friday at 7 p.m. at Pilot Rock.
