Friday night’s matchup in the Mid-Columbia Conference between the Hermiston Bulldogs and the Richland Bombers features two teams who won state championships a year ago.

Hermiston won Oregon’s 5A football title, while the Bombers won Washington’s 6A title. The two teams, however, had wildly different outcomes during last week’s season openers. Hermiston shut out Pasco, 45-0, at home, while Richland was shut out, 19-0, by Pasco’s other high school, Chiawana.

The shutout was surprising considering the Bombers scored 619 points a year ago – 250 more points than any other team in the conference.

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday at Fran Rish Stadium in Richland.
