The Hermiston School District will return to limited in-person instruction on Jan. 19 and has announced changes to its meal service program.

The district first began limited, in-person instruction on Oct. 19, but returned to distance learning only in November as COVID-19 case numbers began to rise in the county again.

Beginning Friday, Jan. 15, Monday breakfasts will be provided the Friday prior during the lunch pickup, rather than Monday mornings.

Families may pick up meals at the following sites, on school days, between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm:

  • Hermiston High School
  • Sandstone Middle School
  • Sunset Elementary School
  • West Park Elementary School

The following sites will be limited, with preferred service to walking students.

  • Desert View Elementary School
  • Highland Hills Elementary School
  • Rocky Heights Elementary School

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no meals will be provided Monday, Jan. 18. The Tuesday, Jan. 19, breakfast may be picked up with the Friday, Jan. 15, lunch.

The last day for meal delivery bus routes will be Friday, Jan. 15. This will allow Mid-Columbia Bus Company to transport students participating in limited in-person instruction.
