Hermiston Downtown District’s Melonfest is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 17 on Festival Street, with non-stop activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Event-goers will enjoy all-day entertainment, food, produce, craft vendors, free watermelon face painting, photo booth, kids’ games, waterslide, watermelon costume contest, seed-spitting contest – and the Splash & Dash Bathtub Races.
Maxwell Pavilion will host a 21-and-older After Party with music from 7 to 10 p.m. Bathtub race entry forms are available online and are due by Aug. 15 at city hall or the community center. There is no entry fee. Melonfest is sponsored by the city of Hermiston, KOHU/The Q, Sherrell Chevrolet and the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call the chamber at 541-567-6151.
