The third annual Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy in Hermiston will take place June 15 starting at McKenzie Park near the Hermiston Fire Department.

The cost is $25 per person and each participant receives a T-shirt. Registration begins at 8:30 with a kick-off ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The 1-mile walk/run begins at 10 a.m., and a celebration ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. after the walk/run concludes.

The event raises money for the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest (EFNW) in conjunction with The Arc of Umatilla County in their effort to stop seizures, find a cure and overcome challenges created by epilepsy.

The Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy takes place in cities throughout the Northwest. Along with Hermiston, events take place in Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Bellingham, the Tri-Cities, Portland, Medford and Anchorage.

With the partnership between The Epilepsy Foundation Northwest and The Arc of Umatilla County, 50 percent of the proceeds will come back to The Arc of Umatilla County, and the other 50 percent goes to the EFNW to reinvest in epilepsy education and training back into our community.

You may help support this fight by registering for the walk/run at the event website and start your own team or individuals can send a check made payable to EFNW and in the memo of the check write “Hermiston’s Run/Walk” and mail it to: EFNW 2311 N 45th St., #134, Seattle, Wash., 98103.

The Epilepsy Foundation Northwest is the largest agency in the northwest serving the needs of the epilepsy community. Nearly 136,000 people in Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Montana have seizure-related health issues.
