Lewiston quarterback Colton Richardson was too much for the Hermiston Bulldogs Friday as the Bengals built an early lead and cruised to a 56-37 victory in Lewiston.

Richardson and the Bengals got off to a torrid start, scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter and another early in the second to take a commanding 35-0 lead.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the second quarter on 43-yard touchdown run by Mitch Brown and a 2-point conversion. Lewiston answered right back on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Richardson to Mason Ulrich to push its lead to 42-8.

Hermiston (0-4) cut it to 42-14 on a 5-yard run by quarterback Dayshawn Neal. The Bulldogs scored first in the third quarter when Neal connected with Nathan Hunsaker on a 47-yard touchdown pass.

Two more third-quarter touchdowns by Lewiston put Hermiston in a hole it could not recover from, despite outscoring Lewiston 16-0 in the final quarter.

The Bengals’ Richardson had a huge night, going 22-for-34 and 398 passing yards and 5 touchdowns. The win improves Lewiston to 5-0 on the year

Neal had his best game of the year for Hermiston, racking up 125 yards on the ground and connecting on 18 of 29 passes for 236 yards.

The Bulldogs return home this coming Friday after three straight road games. They will host Coeur d’Alene at Kennison Field at 7 p.m.
