Hermiston Gearing Up For Spring Clean-Up Week

Got Junk? The city of Hermiston is encouraging residents to take part in a week-long clean sweep at the Transfer Station (two miles north of Hermiston on Highway 395), April 1-7.

Cash Customers can receive up to $14 off each acceptable load. Those with less than 2.5 cubic yards or a maximum of 454.5 pounds of junk can dispose of them for free. Tires will be billed at the regular rate. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, April 8, the city will sponsor a free recycling event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Umatilla Electric Cooperative parking lot.

The only items accepted will be aluminum, appliances, car batteries, computers, concrete, electronics, paint, paper, cardboard, glass bottles, jars, plastics, tin, tires, scrap metal, yard debris, and clean wood.

Separate all materials before you bring them. Bins are provided at the event.

Finally, on April 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a household hazardous waste collection at the Eastern Oregon Trade & Event Center, 1705 E. Airport Road in Hermiston.
