The city of Hermiston is currently leading Portland by about 1,100 votes in the contest to win $20,000 worth of playground equipment.
As of 11 a.m. today, Hermiston had 8,692 votes while Portland had 7,540 with Tillamook third with 1,461 votes (what’s up with Tillamook?).
Whichever of the three cities has the most votes by March 20 will win the equipment. If Hermiston wins, the new equipment will be installed at Sunset Park, which is currently closed due to old, unsafe playground equipment.
