The first in a series works of art by local artists will go on display Sept. 2 at the Hermiston Public Library.
First up will be the work of Sandra Spencer, whose art will grace the walls of the library throughout the month of September.
Hermiston Public Library Director Marie Baldo said during the next several months the library will be hosting several local artists. Baldo said the presentations are an effort to provide the community with access to works in a variety of mediums created by artists that reside within our community. The library will display the work of a different artist each month. The displays are currently scheduled to run through the end of the year.
Spencer moved to the Hermiston area in 2006. She makes her living as an artist working primarily in the medium of oils using a palette knife. Spencer’s works range from the whimsical to the sublime, said Baldo. She was an invited artist for the Woof Art of the Dog Show at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona, Fla.
