The Hermiston Lions Club has awarded four $2,000 community service scholarships to to area students.
To be considered for the scholarships, the student must be a resident of Boardman, Echo, Hermiston, Ione, Irrigon, Stanfield or Umatilla.
This year’s recipients are:
Reed Middleton, graduate of Hermiston High School and Kansas State University, pursuing a graduate degree in Food Economics and Marketing at the University of Reading in England.
Hannah Melville, graduate of Hermiston High School, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University.
Maddie Owen, graduate of Echo High School, pursuing a degree in Interior Design and Architecture from the University of Idaho.
Taylor Rollins, graduate of Ione Charter School, pursuing a degree in Agriculture Entrepreneurship from Eastern Oregon University.
In addition to receiving the scholarships, the students are being recognized for their service to their communities, their community involvement, and their academic achievements.
“We are committed to supporting our youth and our entire community. We are proud to offer these scholarships and wish our recipients the best as they continue their academic studies.” said Hermiston Lions Club President Bill Kuhn.
