A Hermiston man died and a teenager was injured Friday afternoon in an ATV accident near Meacham.
The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police responded around 2:40 p.m. to a report of two people injured in an ATV accident in the area of Jordan Circle Lane and Meacham Lake.
Medics on scene confirmed the operator of the ATV, 20-year-old Cesar Ambriz of Hermiston, had died from injuries sustained in the accident. A 13-year-old juvenile passenger was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton.
According to the sheriff’s office, the ATV was traveling on gravel when it went off the roadway and rolled while operating a turn.
Also responding to the accident were the Pendleton Fire Department, the Umatilla Tribal Fire Department and Umatilla County Search and Rescue.
