Hermiston police arrested a man on Friday, May 17 on charges related to sexual assault and kidnapping.
Jonah Cadel Howard, 28, was arrested on charges of first-degree forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sodomy.
According to the Hermiston Police Department, around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, officers responded to S.W. Third Street in Hermiston to a report of a sexual assault. According to the HPD, the suspect and victim knew each other. Additional resources were brought in for the investigation, resulting in the arrest of Howard just after 1 p.m. on Friday.
Howard is currently lodged in the Umatilla County Jail. The HPD said no other information would be released “due to the sensitive nature of these crimes.”
