HPD officers arrested Benjamin Muniz, 40, on Tuesday after he allegedly stole a pair of boots from Ace Hardware in Hermiston on March 12.

Surveillance video show Muniz in the store with one pair of shoes, then later leaving the store with a new pair of boots that he had not paid for.

On Facebook, HPD showed two photos from the video showing the suspect and asked the public for help in identifying the suspect.

“We would like to thank the community for all the assistance with this case,” said Cpt. Travis Eynon. “We received multiple messages and calls identifying the person in the picture as Mr. Muniz. He was charged with the theft of boots and was taken to the Umatilla County Jail. It is our understanding he may have posted bail and was released later in the day.”
