The Hermiston Police Department is investigating a fight on Tuesday that led to gun shots being fired.
Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m., Hermiston officers responded to a report of a fight and gun shots near the intersection of S.E. Sixth St and E. Hurlburt Ave. No injuries were reported, however, a dark colored 1997 Honda Civic parked in the area had been shot several times, according to HPD.
According to Cpt. Travis Eynon, three males were arguing with the occupants of a light colored SUV. Eynon said one of the males broke out a window of the SUV with a baseball bat. That led to one of the occupants of the SUV pulling out a firearm, causing the three males to flee the scene.
Eynon said the SUV is believed to have pulled up to the unoccupied Honda and fired several shots into the vehicle before leaving the area. Eynon said evidence has been collected at the scene.
Eynon did not say if anyone has been arrested, but said “this is still a very active investigation.”
