Residents in Hermiston are invited to make plans to host National Night Out gatherings on Aug. 6.
The national campaign encourages people to get to know their neighbors and facilitates police-community partnerships. According to the NNO website, knowing your neighbors and surroundings helps create safer communities.
Those planning National Night Out gatherings can provide details to Cpl. Tim Miears, of the Hermiston Police Department. City officials and first responders hope to visit block parties throughout the town.
