Hermiston Resident, Bertie Quayle, Dies at 95

Bertie Irene Quayle died on Dec, 28, 2013 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 95.

She was born on July 16, 1918 in Madras to Burton Samuel and Annie May Shaw Richardson. Bertie was raised and attended school in Boardman. Bertie was married to Earl Connell and Roy Minnick, who both preceded her in death. On Feb. 18, 1962, Bertie married Marion Quayle in Yakima, Wash. They lived in Hillsboro until 1972, moving to Pendleton. They moved to Hermiston in 1974 where she has lived since. Bertie had worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and, most of all, time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Earl Connell and wife, Lita, Hermiston, and Burton Minnick and wife, Cathy, Pinehurst, Idaho; sister, Freda, who is 102, Portland; 13 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Bertie was preceded in death by her three husbands, Earl Connell, Roy Minnick, and Marion Quayle; a son, Albert Seeber; her parents; sister, Edith; granddaughter, Anna Marie Seeber; and great-grandson, Tylor Irwin.

A graveside funeral service was held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Riverview Cemetery in Boardman.
