Hermiston Resident, Carolyn Maden, Passes Away


Carolyn K. Maden, of Hermiston, died on Jan. 22, 2014 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland, Wash. at the age of 63.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1950 in Pendleton to Arthur and Helen Quested Giesen. Carolyn was raised by her grandmother, Catherine Farrar. She attended school in Hermiston, graduating in the class of 1969. She worked at Schroth Realty and later at Columbia Crest Winery. Carolyn then worked as a secretary for Lamb West ConAgra in Hermiston for several years and then at Nalley’s for a time. She married David L. Maden on Aug. 8, 1998 in Hermiston. She was a member of the Hermiston Eagles Lodge # 2909. Carolyn enjoyed reading and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, David Maden, Hermiston; sisters, Donna Rogers, Hermiston, and Penny Madsen, Umatilla; brother, Charlie Giesen, Hermiston.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Candice Giesen Prior and Diana Coffman.
