Hermiston Resident, Edwin Curtis, Dies at Age 71

Edwin L. “Ed” Curtis died on April 14, 2014 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 71.

He was born on March 25, 1943 in Petersburg, Tenn., to Arthur and Evelyn Reevs Curtis. Ed was raised and attended schools in the Nashville area. He then served in the United States Army during Vietnam, stationed in Germany from 1965 until 1967. After his honorable discharge, married Diana Kay Allen on Aug. 19, 1967 in Oakdale, Calif.

Ed worked at the Libby Owens Glass Company in Lathrop, Calif., for several years. He later went to work at the Sharpe Army Depot and later was transferred to the Umatilla Army Depot in 1985 where he worked as a security guard until retiring in 2003. Ed enjoyed fishing, family, and fried food.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Frost and husband Bob, Hermiston, and Lezlee Curtis, Hermiston; and two grandchildren, Shane and Kaitlyn.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; his parents; and brothers, Arthur, Alvin, and an infant brother.
